HONORING MY FATHER

Picture
Installation, Honoring my Father  2010
SomArts in SF
My dad was my hero. I created this installation in honor of my father and his life. Takuma Fujii, a nurseryman and the founder of Asahi Nursery. He left behind a legacy that was part of our family for many years and I wanted to share this visual story of my dad because of the love and admiration I had for him. Since childhood, I saw my dad and the nursery as one, and he and the nursery became the rock of my being, my foundation. It is where I learned lessons in life, amidst the beautiful flowers that were born and nurtured there.
Discarded objects from the property were reimagined and recreated into other art forms to build this art installation.
